chopping the stock frame is going to be cheaper than buying a new frame. To build a bobber from one of these is easy. All you'd have to do is lower the
seat rails, unless you were wanting to hardtail it. You can see what can be done to a stock frame here: http://www.geocities.com/freebyrd78

Right. By lowering the seat rails 3 inches, that allows you to run a Harley seat and rear fender for that bobber look. If you noticed, there's a pic of my
bike with the bars and tank on it before I did the rake.

Ok, what year is your bike? The DOHCs didn't have the bars under the backbone, but the SOHCs did. As far as welding, it doesn't take much to lower the
seat rails.

ELVIS is a bobber and i didnt chop the frame at all (stock 77 cb750) . you can go with struts to lower it , or check out e-bay for a weld on hard tail section
, or check out the frames that ken at cyclexchange sells or check out a place called kansaskustoms or cycle one . i just made a ridged out of a cm 400 twin i
have , i got some tubing from my buddy (left over scrap from his race car ) made a cardboard template and welded it all together , the horse had a real good
tech article a few months back on hard tailing a swing arm fram (look in the archives on the site ) its all a mater of price and ability and tools , do it
yourself if ya can , pay someone if ya cant , most importantly , always remember that your ass will be on it . so make sure it's done right and safe .
PS: there was a pic of ELVIS in the readers ride section on here (black 750 w/red metal flake k&q seat ) |

Since your bike is a deuce, there are no horizontal bars to worry about when it comes to lowering the seat rails. The frame on my site will be the same as
yours. As far as the differences between the SOHC and the DOHC, it's just a matter of personal choice. Both are great bikes.

Great news freebyrd,I will use my frame.I took it on one of its last rides today as it is.It told me it was tired of being stock
bikerdave,Good advice at my age I need to stay in the saddle.I could not find ELVIS but with a name like that it has to be cool. I know you all get a lot of new comers that just want something but I really thank you for everything I am going to see this build through and hope to ride with a lot of you some day.

I'd suggest a tank off a Honda Shadow. They have a wide enough tunnel to go over the three bars near the head. On my chopper, I used a tank off an 83 750
Shadow, but there are no petcocks on them, so I had to modify the tank. If you like the general look of that tank, the 500 Shadows DID have a petcock, and will
also fit over the frame.

Great choice I looked up the honda 500 shadow tank and I believe thats it.The easyer the better for me. I have a feeling it will get a lot tougher. You have
already saved me time and cash.I will start looking for the tank.[I feel like a 49 year old apprentice to you freebyrd].
