I was thinking about running open exhaust on my 82 DOHC CB. I was wondering if there would be some additional jetting/tunning that would need to be done to run an open exhaust system? The exhaust I am running now is aftermarket 4into1.

You will no doubt have to rejet. While a 4-1 system has less back pressure than a standard exhaust, the open pipes will have even less. With the factory
exhaust and airbox, the needles were turned out 1 1/2 turns and the jets were 68 and 102. With pod filters and a 4-2 exhaust, we run the needles at 3 /12 turns
out and jets of 75 and 110....so maybe that will give you an idea.

I have straight pipes factory ,short the motor runs great now so it must be jetted I have no desire to dismantle to see when it`s running so great. One
question ya`all might know the answer to is-- In Pa I need inspection I bought some JC Whitney baffles to put in the pipes that I have not done yet. Will those
baffes affect the jetting?--I plan on removeing them as soon as I get home. I like the noise. Thanks much

anytime you affect the amount of back pressure in an exhaust on a bike you'll have to make changes. Unlike a car, bikes are ver sensitive to changes in the
air/fuel mix.

The extra back pressure should just make it run rich which is never a bad thing on a bike anyway. So ya think those little baffels that they sell will make it
purr like a kitten, I got alot more baffeling than that on my shorties and they leave plenty of space behind me when we are riding, my whine drives out their
thump thump
